  47. PURPOSE
  48.     KingFisher is a tool specifically designed to maintain and
  49.     search one or more databases for software.  The program permits
  50.     manual browsing, but offers a powerful expression parser through
  51.     which you can explain to KingFisher exactly what you are looking
  52.     for.
  53.  
  54.     The layout of database records for display is programmable, as
  55.     is the format used for printing and that for writing records to
  56.     a file.  This permits complete customization, separately for
  57.     each database.
  58.  
  59.     KingFisher uses a resizable GadTools window on the default
  60.     public screen or on a custom screen, offers the choice of both
  61.     smart and simple refresh windows, and supports proportional
  62.     fonts (including scalable fonts) of nearly any size.
  63.  
  64.     KingFisher supports more than one database, and databases that
  65.     are larger than a single disk volume, which are spread over any
  66.     number of disks to be mounted on request.
  67.  
  68.     Using advanced Client-Server Technology, KingFisher supports
  69.     multiple simultaneous users with a minimum of memory overhead
  70.     (as little as 30K) for each user (an ARexx-based interface
  71.     named RexxFisher provides a BBS with the means to serve many
  72.     databases to many users!)  KingFisher's multi-user support in
  73.     NO WAY hinders its value in a single-user environment!

  75.     KingFisher is localized.  Catalogs are supplied for Dansk,
  76.     Deutsch, Espanol, Nederlands, Suomi, and Svenska.  More are
  77.     expected as translators are found (hint, hint!)

  79.     Fully integrated AmigaGuide help provides context sensitive
  80.     assistance and information on menu items and gadgets under
  81.     the mouse pointer.  Hundreds of links cross-reference over
  82.     150K of documentation.

  84.     KingFisher comes with a complete, read-to-use database of
  85.     descriptions for Fred's "Fish Disks" 1-1000!  The command
  86.     "Install database..." helps adding existing databases from
  87.     CD-ROM.

  89. REQUIREMENTS
  90.     With Fish Disk Database (1.5MB), approximately 2.2MB of harddisk
  91.     space is needed.  The program requires about 300K of memory to
  92.     run, depending on the size of the database index files and some
  93.     other factors.  Kickstart V37 (2.04) is required; V38 (2.1) is
  94.     required for localization.

  97.     O/S:      Minimum KS V37 (2.04); V38 recommended; V39/V40 best!
  98.     CPU:      68000 through 68040.  Untested on 68060.
